Abstract: 

THE HYPOTHESIS THAT TWO KNOWN CHELATORS DEFERIPRONE (L1) AND DEFERASIROX (DFS) MIGHT BE MORE EFFICIENT AS COMBINED TREATMENT THAN AS MONOTHERAPIESIN MOBILIZATION OF COPPER WAS TESTEDIN COPPER-EXPOSED RATS [1, 2]. MALE WISTAR RATS WERE EXPOSED TO 70 MG/KG BODY WEIGHT COPPER (II) CHLORIDE IN DRINKING WATER FOR 42 DAYS, FOLLOWED BY TREATMENT WITH DFS, L1 EITHER ALONE OR IN COMBINATION DFS+L1, FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE DAYS. AFTER CHELATION THERAPY, THESE RATS WERE ANESTHETIZED WITH ETHER VAPOR AND IMMOBILIZED BY CERVICAL DISLOCATION AND THEN THEIR HEART, LIVER, KIDNEYS AND INTESTINE WERE SAMPLED FOR DETERMINATION OF COPPER, IRON AND CONCENTRATION WITH AN ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROPHOTOMETER. THE TREATMENT WITH DFS AND L1 APPRECIABLY DECREASED THE DEPLETION OF ENDOGENOUS COPPER BUT THE COMBINED TREATMENTS WERE MORE EFFICIENT THAN THE INDIVIDUALS IN RESTORING THE TISSUE COPPER LEVELS. FURTHERMORE, IRON AND ZINC CONCENTRATION AFTER CHELATION THERAPY SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASED, THUS CONSUMPTION OF IRON AND ZINC TABLET IS RECOMMENDED TO RETURN IRON AND ZINC LEVEL TO ITS NORMAL STATE. OUR RESULTS SUPPORT THE USEFULNESS OF THIS ANIMAL MODEL FOR PRELIMINARY IN VIVO TESTING OF COPPER CHELATORS. RESULT OF COMBINED CHELATORS TREATMENT SHOULD BE CONFIRMED IN A DIFFERENT EXPERIMENTAL MODEL BEFORE EXTRAPOLATION TO OTHER SYSTEMS.

Abstract: 

The Natural killer (NK) cells are a subset of lymphocytes comprising around 10% of total lymphocytes in peripheral blood. Due to their role in the innate response, NK cells provide a ‘first line of defense’ against infectious agents and cancer and are also thought to play a role in autoimmunity. The killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIR) are regulatory surface molecules, found on NK cells and on a subset of T lymphocytes.The genes for KIR are present on chromosome 19 in the leukocyte receptor complex and show a major difference for both the type and number of KIR genes present among different ethnic groups. They have been divided into two groups of 2D or 3D, depending on the number of external immunoglobulin domains. The presence of a long cytoplasmic tail with two immune tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIM) allows the transduction of inhibitory signals and characterizes the inhibitory KIRs (2DL and 3DL), whereas the presence of short cytoplasmic tails corresponds to the activating KIR receptors (2DS and 3DS).These polymorphic receptors interact with specific motifs on human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I molecules, modulate NK cytolytic activity. Some KIRs are known to interact with HLA-C molecules of target cells, HLA-Bw4 molecules and HLA-A3/11. For some KIRs the corresponding LIGANDS are still unknown.

Abstract: 

The interaction of monodentate N-donor LIGANDS to MTO methyltrioxorhenium) is governed by both electronic and steric effects. For example, the formation constant of pyridine to MTO is 215.76 L mol-1, whereas that of the better donor 4-picoline is 703.14 L mol-1 and that of the sterically encumbered 2-picoline is <1 L mol-1.Formation constants have been evaluated for this reaction, MTO + L= MTO.L, where L comprises monodentate N-donor LIGANDS. A successful correlation of log K with pKa of L was realized except in the case of 2-substituted LIGANDS.

Abstract: 

In the present study, synthesis of new polyamine LIGANDS using vinamidinium salts in the presence of N-ethyl diisopropylamine in ethanol were reported. In the first part of this study, the synthesis of new polyamine LIGANDS has been reported, in the presence of N-ethyl diisopropylamine in ethanol in three steps: 1. Preparation of N-heteroaryl acetic acid salts, 2. Synthesis of vinamidinium salts and 3. synthesis of polyamine LIGANDS using vinamidinium salts. In the second part, from the reaction of nickel acetate with synthesized polyamine compounds in DMSO as the solvent, the corresponding nickel (II) complexes were obtained and studied by UV spectroscopy.
